Understand what changes when you move from a public school IEP to ESA-funded education

- +Therapy control: Choose your own therapists and service levels

- +Less bureaucracy: No IEP meetings, evaluations, or committee approvals
- +Better fit: Find schools/programs specializing in your child's needs

The Transition Process
1
Research & Decide
Before applying for ESA, thoroughly research:
- Available private schools in your area
- Therapy providers who accept ESA
- Total costs vs. ESA award amount
- Quality of current IEP services
2
Get Your IEP Documentation
You'll need:
- Current IEP document
- Eligibility determination paperwork
- Most recent evaluations
- Any medical diagnoses
3
Apply for ESA

4
Sign FAPE Waiver

5
Withdraw from Public School
Officially withdraw your child from public school. Keep confirmation of withdrawal for your records.
6
Enroll & Start Services
Enroll in chosen private school or start homeschool program. Begin using ESA funds for approved expenses.
